In 2003, Florida received HRSA SPG funding to learn more about the uninsured and to develop proposals for extending coverage to all uninsured Floridians. Activities accomplished under the grant include a statewide telephone survey, focus groups with the uninsured, employers, and insurers, as well as key informant interview with insurance companies. The grant came at an opportune time because the Governor's Task Force on Access to Affordable Health Care for Floridians was formed in 2003. The task force is the advisory body that includes key stakeholders to ensure that expansion options are amenable to the people who will offer and use them.
