Conducted by AcademyHealth

The State Coverage Initiatives program invites state officials to attend a 1 ½ day workshop focused on cost-containment on July 18-19, 2002 in Chicago. In a time of escalating health care costs and declining state budgets, this workshop will examine the cost drivers contributing to the current environment and highlight innovative cost-containment strategies in both the public and private sector.

Emphasizing discussion and problem-solving, the workshop sessions will focus on issues such as:

  • Health Care Cost Drivers - Perspectives on Public and Private Expenditure Growth
  • How Premium Increases are Impacting States and the Private Sector
  • Strategies for Controlling State Health Expenditures
  • Lessons from the Private Sector
  • Regulation vs. Competition in State Health Insurance Markets

The State Coverage Initiatives program is committed to creating a dialogue among states. We will continue to keep you posted on further developments and look forward to your participation at this important workshop.

If you have any questions about this workshop, please feel free to contact Ben Wheatley, Senior Associate, at 202.292.6724, or Isabel Friedenzohn, Associate, at 202.292.6706.
